Happy 2013!!

Hey guys! Happy New Years eve! Only a few more hours here on the east coast until 2013! 2012 was filled with some not so great things, so we are hoping for more of a positive 2013 :)

Tonight's nails were quick and easy because I had no idea what to do lol. I started with a base of Manglaze Matte is Murder (2 coats) then did a glitter gradient of Manglaze Hot Mess on the tips, then using a small nail art brush added a "2013" to my ring finger with Hot Mess as well.

Then all done! I hope everyone has a fabulous night, please don't drink and drive, and be safe!

Pink Rubber Nails? Illamasqua says so!

Hey guys! Here today with the other purchase I made at Sephora, one of the new Illamasqua Rubber Brights, this one's name is Devotee. I decided I needed the pink, of course, but then again who's surprised by that? ;) Carly over at Lacquered Lover has swatches of 5 of the 6 in the collection here.

So this polish is pretty cool, it's matte but the finish is just different than anything else I have. It's a super fun bubble gum pink, which my camera had a hard time capturing, but it's beautiful! I used two coats to get the color I have now. I could have done 3 for safe measure but without being able to use a fast dry top coat I didn't want to risk them not drying!

For fun, on my thumb and ring finger I added two coats of an indie polish a friend made, sorry can't give you more info than that! But because it's a pink and green glitter I knew I wanted it! Longish story short, the old man is green and I'm pink, so pink and green ;)

This was such a fun and simple mani I just love it, this shade of pink is perfect for summer!

Julep Suede Amber, Me!

Hey guys! Here today with something I never thought I'd have, a polish with my name, that isn't orange!!

So I had heard about, and also seen on FB that Julep was coming out with a few suede polishes, but since I hadn't gotten one in my Julep Maven box, I hadn't seen them in person yet. So after class I stopped by Sephora, because well it's on my way to the interstate so why not? ;)

Saw the suedes and about fell over dead when I saw "Amber", it would be better if it was pink, but I'll take it! It looks very similar to OPI You Don't Know Jacques Suede, but since I haven't compared them side by side yet I don't know how dupe-y they are. But I also figured I couldn't go wrong with a suede, so what the hell!

This is two coats, with no top coat since that would take away the finish. It applied easily and dried super fast!

Back to School Post 3, Chalkboard Nails!

Hey guys! Here today with school post 3 :) Chalkboard Nails! No not like the blog that Sarah owns, but actual Chalkboard!

I just recently received Zoya Veruschka in a secret swap, and thinking about it made me realize that it's the perfect green, that is already matte for an old school chalkboard look! So I used two coats of it, which applied like a dream btw, then using a standard white I drew on the different letters and numbers with a long thin nail art brush.

It was a pretty easy thing to do, and was also pretty quick which is always nice!

Pinterest Inspiration Week, Day 3, Neon Spun Sugar

Hey guys! Back with day 3! Today's inspiration came from this pin, and the original post is here. I had been wanting to try doing the spun sugar look for a few weeks now but just hadn't found the inspiration to do it, until I saw today's inspiration!

These two colors together are just fabulous! Neon yellow and bright blue! Now being as this was my first attempt at this technique it's not perfect, but I don't think it's horrible either haha! It was super messy, and for some reason the polish globbed (is that a word?) up on my nails quite a bit, but I still had a lot of fun doing them!

I did a base of white to start, followed by two coats of Sinful Colors Neon Melon on all but my ring finger, which is two coats of Sinful Colors Why Not. Then I went about the mess making! There is a good video here if you don't know how it works :)

After all was said and done I finished up with a coat of a matte finish, which is hard to tell because of the light reflecting off of my nails but you get the idea ;)

Summer Fun Challenge, Hot Hot Hot!!!

Hey guys! Today I have post 4 of the Summer Fun nail art Challenge from Lindsey over at Neverland Nail Blog. I just like last time had an idea that I ended up changing because well, it would have been pretty much impossible since I don't have a mirror polish lol

So for today's challenge I did started with a base coat of white, and did a gradient from yellow to red, the red turned out more pink because of the white base, but I'm okay with that! Yellow I used Zoya Pippa, Orange I used Essie Orange It's Obvious, and the Red is OPI The Color of Minnie. I then used one coat of OPI DS Shimmer (my pointer ended up with a thicker coat) to make my hot gradient sparkle!

I then used ManGlaze Matte is Murder with a nail art brush to draw on the flames, and filled it in with a dotting tool, hence why it's kind of lumpy. I wanted this contrast because I thought it would be awesome! Holo flames and matte black mmmm.

Pretty & Polished day 2, Sand Art!

Hey guys! Day 2 of Pretty & Polished polishes, and today we have Sand Art. So I realize some of you may have had deprived childhoods and not even know what sand art is, so I'll link you to give you an idea! Most of the time it's stuff like this. Growing up at the beach I'm very familiar with it, so seeing Chelsea's polish I just had to have it!

Because this polish is jam-packed with micro matte glitters it is very thick, I don't mind it because I love the outcome, but I know some people are picky about that. In order to get a full coverage with what I saw as no bare spots I used three coats, and a top coat. Let me tell you it took forever to dry and I had some dents in them as well, whoops.

So here's what you came for!

Bunnies and Carrots!

Hey guys! Sorry about the lack of a post yesterday, I was slacking! But I'm here today with something super cute to make up for it! I wanted to do something else with bunnies since Easter is only a few days away, but I didn't want to do the same thing that I had done on the other two, so I got to thinking. What do bunnies love? Carrots! I know the bunny we used to have did anyway, his name was Muffin :)

So I didn't want to do the normal Easter pastel colors for this one, I decided to do a matte background instead for a bit of a change. I started with two coats of Nicole by OPI wild blue yonder matte, the bunnies are just a plain ol white (the same one I always use, it's SC snow me white), the pink in the ears and the noses of the bunnies is OPI the lifeguard makes me blush. The carrots are Julep Hayden, with the darker orange stripes of Loreal boozy brunch, and the leaves are Color Club Twiggie.

I was super happy with how they came out, I think they are adorable! And the old man loved the expressions on the bunnies faces, heh ;) It's the same look our dogs get when they are licking a bowl or something, we call it crazy eyes ;)

Matte Easter Eggs!

Hey guys! Easter is apon us! Only 17 days to go! April 8th is Easter for those that don't know, and then my birthday is on the 12th :D I'll be a whopping 28 years old! *shock* So today's post is on another iconic childhood memory, dying and decorating hard boiled eggs!

This is a bit of a skittles mani, with different colored pastel colors :) My thumb (that you can't see lol) and pinky finger are Finger Paints lemon sour, my pointer finger is Funky Fingers Mrs. Mint, middle is Funky Fingers queen cupcake, and ring finger is Funky Fingers sugarplum fairy. Using my two favorite tools, my long thin nail art brush, and a dotting tool I made the "decorations", which I tried to make a little different on each one. Once I was done I topped it with Sephora by OPI matte top coat.

Manglaze Matte Is Murder and Hot Mess

Hey guys! Here today with my first Manglaze polishes!! I got these beauties from Ace over at The Polish Lab, she's doing a fundraiser with polish, and all the money goes to charity :) I bought quite a few from her ;)

I've been drooling over Manglaze on Facebook for a while now, and for some reason I just hadn't gotten any, there is now a big need to add quite a few to my wishlist ;)

So with this mani I did two coats of Matte Is Murder, and then one coat of Hot Mess over my ring finger, for a little bit of bling! I'm not a really dark person, but damn did I feel hot wearing this!

What do you guys think? Do you have a favorite Manglaze polish?

OPI Linkin Park After Dark Suede

Hey guys! Yes I have been lucky enough to get myself another suede. I have one on the way, then two more and I'll have them all.

I scored this beauty off eBay for $12.99 + shipping. I thought that was a pretty good deal!

This is two coats and no top coat.

China Glaze Flying Dragon

Hey guys! Here today with a not super well known China Glaze called flying dragon. This beauty is in the normal China Glaze displays at both Ulta and Sally's.

It's a neon purple with little blue flecks in it. I wouldn't call them glitter because they aren't shiny but they are obvious. I used two coats of this polish, and without top coat it's a bit matted like a lot of neon polishes tend to be, so I took some pictures with and without top coat hoping that even with the flash you would be able to tell the difference.

The first 4 pictures are with no top coat, the 5th the pointer and ring finger have a top coat and middle and pinky do not, and in the 6th picture all have a top coat.

Nicole by OPI Respect the World matte

Hey guys! I recently broke out one of the mattes in my stash, this beauty was found at Walmart randomly on a shelf, I had never seen it before but *had* to have it. I told the old man that he could put it in my stocking, which he did ;)

I used two coats of this beautiful polish, and should have waited to take pics in the sun because with the flash it looks a bit more blue than it actually is. It's more of a teal color, but honestly it doesn't matter what color it is, it's beautiful!! I didn't use a top coat because I'm not to thrilled with the matte one that I have, so I just went without to show the effect of the polish :)

Oh and this post starts with the new camera ;)

What do you guys think? I LOVE it! I think it's similar to the OPI suede polishes which is never a bad thing!

Until next time, happy painting!
